Oooh… (Stat Talk)

ME on Tag Society … I wonder how long that’ll last ;)

And I’ve almost breached 10,000 (okay, 11,000 :P ) Technorati Rank. If only I could get Douglas Karr’s awesome plugin to actually WORK HERE  . (I doubt it’s his ‘fault’ at all - VERY LIKELY a problem with my crazy site…).

Can I post stuff like this? If I’m breaching something, please let me know… ;) (WOAH! She’s relaxing a bit on the attribution-whoring? SAY IT AIN’T SO!)

UPDATE: #@%$ that validation error. I’ll deal with it later. Maybe. Gnarrh.

UPDATE(2): #@%$ validating; rock on plain text. PFLT!

14 Kicks to “Oooh… (Stat Talk)”

  1. Doug Karr Says:

Hi! Saw your note… do you know what version of PHP you are running? The plugin uses cURL and PHP5+. My guess is one or the other isn’t on your site. :(

I am working on a version that works with older versions… it’s just tougher to build.

  2. ankakay Says:

    Welcome, Doug!

You are such a sweetheart for picking this up on your ‘radar’ and taking the time to comment :)

    1. - short reply: we apparently don’t have cURL - durnit! -

Heheheh - ‘Choose your own adventure!’ :?

    2. - Original, crazy-assed, novella-sized reply :!: -

My genius, but overworked :( husband, who does most of the unix-ing about our server assured me, after much  pestering from me  , that we are working with PHP5+, but with respect to cURL… I can’t remember what he said about it, if anything. Hrm… :picks up the phone!: :P

Ahhh… we had the ‘needing-cURL’ issue for another plugin I ‘desperately had to have yesterday’ (heheh), and he realised then (when he found out we didn’t have it and needed it) that we couldn’t get the Technorati ranking plugin going for likely the same reason.

I’ve been bombarding him with too many, “OOoooh, look at THIS plugin! Can I try it? How about … right now?!”

It’s difficult having all of this ‘raging’ curiosity and need for knowledge, but at the same time, being too ‘hyped-up’ and ‘mentally-disorganised’ to learn and/or apply everything that I want to :P I need to slooooooow dooooooown. Or rather, give myself permission to do so, and THEN slow down

He’s telling me, “Remember how I said I’d have to recompile everything and that it would likely ‘break stuff’, so it may take some time?” Heh. Thus will be the cURL endeavour, apparently! :\ Heheh. Maybe if I shout at the server (geographically impossible  ), it’ll recompile itself. Still wouldn’t do me any good should I succeed in that impossible feat, especially if it were to ‘break stuff’ :P

“Maybe on the weekend…” An exercise in patience, so duly needed! :P

I apologise for all of this babbling (when I’m not babbling, I’m apologising for it! :P I’m so… redundant!).

Again, thank you so kindly for coming to comment, and hence enable further communication between the pardner ‘n I which will, in turn, lead to me ‘getting what I want’ , which is your rockin’ plugin! ;)

Sorry for the false ‘alarm’, Doug :)

Take it easy and code on! :)

    ~Rae

I can’t wait! If I had a countdown plugin, I’d start one up, hahahah :P

    (iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii’m a lil’ sleep-deprived 8O )

  3. Defatigable Says:

…. Go to bed. Yer freakin’ me out!

    *sends loooooove*

  4. Pines Says:

    Do the smileys ever stop…

  5. ankakay Says:

Unfortunately, no. What a totally redundant … oh. It doesn’t have a q mark.

    yeah, yeah. deal.

    *still baring teeth* ’sighs.

  6. ankakay Says:

Oh, and Def - THANK YOU! Hehehhe. That actually(?!) worked, heheh. Not instantly, but I had it in the back of my mind that I was freaking my bibi Def out (ALONG with freaking CO out ;) ), plus I too, duh, realised I really needed to, er, GO TO SLEEP, hahahah.

;) Hm… The following is for Pines… ;) (LOVE YOU!!!)

If some of them don’t work, it’s wordpress, not me. SO fuck it :P

    :) :o :D :|    :D 8O :x ;) :mrgreen who unfortunately doesn’t work in wordpress??:  :( :? :P  :!:  :?:

wordpress needs cooler smileys. or I do. whichever.

  7. Pines Says:

    I like the little devil…

  8. ankakay Says:

Good!  I’m glad! Hehheeh. I’ll only use those ones with you. (Or try, hahahah). I miss the ‘BLAH!’ vampire smiley from that chat program… der… heheh.

  9. Beaman Says:

It’s just not fair. There is not a male version of the ‘blogger chicks’ blogroll. There are ‘mums blogrolls’, ‘housewife blogrolls’, ’sisters blogrolls’ but no ‘guys blogrolls’. No wonder the top technorati links are mostly female.

  10. ankakay Says:

Hi Beaman! :) Thank you for your thoroughly thought-provoking comment! (The

    BEST kind, aren’t they?! :D )

I agree with you 100% that it is a double standard.

However…. (”Are you ready for the fun part? ‘Cause here comes the fun part!”)

…in the same online social networking sphere ‘gender double standard’-ing vein

(and please be wary of the fact that ‘we’ are now (thankfully!) far from there being merely two ‘genders’ anymore - which I personally

believe (perhaps a bit ‘ironically’; heck, even naively! ;) ) has the enormous potential to provide a

much-needed departure from this very (valid!) concern of ‘double standards’ - simply because

throwing MORE ’standards’ into the mix may just dilute the … ‘issue’ of the issue even more) — (are y’all gasping for breath too? heheh :P )

I also think there is far less than enough said about the ingenuity (UNIVERSAL ingenuity - one which isn’t incumbent upon whichever gender you identify) , creativity, and utter genius some of us (damn phenomenal, thankyouverymuch :!: er… :P sorry ’bout that ;) ) wired females are doing an exemplary job of portraying on this, the indisputably male-dominated web, in the equally indisputably patriarchal world. (Ew, I used ‘patriarchal’ :P I am NOT a fan of ‘fanatic feminism’ - I am, however, a huge fan of common-sense ‘equal treatment for all members of the planet’ ;) )

So many of us ‘females’ do possess somewhat more inherent social networking skills (I am -NOT- normally one of ‘these’ females - I’m (especially of late!) ‘one of those’ stunted, awkward dweebs when it comes to socialising) which go far beyond the “Oooh, check out that pretty face” - or more realistically

for -some-(most?) ‘wired males’ “WOAH - where do I get me A PIECE O’ THAT?!” (sorry - many of you ‘wired guys’ suck so much for that, and it was never even ‘funny’ to begin with! :P ) . I hate to say it, but that kind of rampant mentality and behaviour among ‘wired males’ is NOT OUR ‘PERSONAL PROBLEM’ - it’s ‘theirs’ (i.e., the ’skeezy wired males’). Some of ‘wired females’ get much more RESIDUAL bullshit from the ‘accused’ afore-mentioned ‘internet males’ than the actual little buggers themselves :!:

You might(?) (heheheh, maybe not so much after this reply :P ) find some ‘comfort’ in the fact that I, personally, do not believe you to be one of these purveyors of this ‘wired-scummish-male’ behaviour/mentality, yadda ;)

Remember, guys! “We” work our asses off too, and much of the time in a heck of a lot more ‘common-sense’ instances than y’all (I, er, believe :dukes: ) ;)

With respect to this ’site’ in particular — (laughable to me at times in it’s

‘apparent popularity’, but hey… I’m not dragging anyone kicking and screaming here

either) — I did (and still do) my share of ‘blogwhoring’ (I cheekily call it this,

but it’s not to denigrate the obvious fact that a lot can STILL be learned from it (from anything this ‘hot or not’, really!) ;) ), but I, in my personal

ridiculously-accelerated and ‘pushing-myself-WAY-too-hard’ swashbuckling (not to mention fare share of BEING swashbuckled!) among this ‘blogosphere’ (but then again, maybe a lot of you’s are, with reason or not, ‘chalking’ that up to my ‘mental issues’, and not ‘just’ chalking it up to your own potential anger, misinformation or fear of anything ‘female’ ;) ) - have been, for the most part, humbled by

ALL of the new acquaintances I have met in this, at times, total insanity of online social networking.

Sorry that was so … messy!
I get a bit lot ‘discombobulated’ sometimes when it comes to

socially / emotionally ‘hot’ issues. Fairly understandable, I think.

I’m (surprisingly!) not feeling ‘overtly emotional’ about this right now, which I

think is helping my communication tremendously (something else to stop beating myself

up over, woohoo!) but that doesn’t change the fact that I am still (and may be for awhile) ‘dealing with’ the many ‘male -> female’ personal (and ’social’) abuse issues that try to ‘get all up in’ my face when I am trying (often quite) desperately to objectively, fairly and with what I feel, anyway, is quite solid integrity - I’m not often ‘proud of myself’ for anything, but I -do- seem (?!) to take pride in my sense of integrity) effectively COMMUNICATE regarding ‘important concerns’ such as these… :P

Did I mention I have WORKED MY FRICKING ASS OFF to get this ’site’ where it is? DAMNIT?! Heheheh :P (I believe my first ‘traffic day’ was February 15th, and I have slowed down quite a bit, because I was just killing myself with the ‘OMG I FEEL ALIVE AND I CAN LEARN / FUNCTION AGAIN, LET’S FREAKING GO GO GO!!! heheheh :P )

FIE MY OVERUSE OF BRACKETS!! I’ll get there ;)

Cheers, Beaman - and thank you again for the inspiring comment. I hope some of my reply was useful / helpful.

~Rae (yikes, I tried composing / html-formatting this reply in Notepad - this could be REALLY horrifying once I hit ‘Submit’… :O ! :jumps in anyways!!: )

  11. ankakay Says:

Sorry, but I HAVE to thank you again, Beaman… :)

This kind of discussion / connection is -exactly- one of the main reasons I’m ‘throwing myself’ at the mercy of ‘the internet’ (again! :P I had to do a little ‘personal rehab’, i.e., step WAAAY back from it, for a while there, hahah :P addictive RPGs! )

It just (!) occurred to me that some of the thoughts you have inspired fit nicely into the first blogosphere ‘tag’ I received, regarding ‘For Whom do you Write?’, which I didn’t think I was ‘up to the challenge’ of responding to. Symbiosis… cool! ;)

Thank you, thank you, thank you :!: again!

~Rae (and yeah, it was pretty messy format-wise, but I’m going to do my best to shove the OCD aside… see if that’s actually POSSIBLE for me! )
